As we shared in the memo dated August 9, 2023, Messiah Lifeways has selected Culinesse, a boutique hospitality brand headquartered in Bethlehem, PA, to be our new Culinary Management Partner. We would like to retain all non-management Cura team members. These team members will become employees of Messiah Lifeways. We recognize there are many questions about what this means for you, and we will help answer questions as we continue to learn more.

To become Messiah Lifeways team members, existing Cura team members will need to fill out necessary paperwork and complete other onboarding tasks. In an effort to streamline the onboarding process, we will be holding an onboarding event on Friday, September 15, Wednesday, September 20 and Tuesday, September 26 from 7:00 am – 8:00 pm in the Chapel. You will need to sign up for a timeslot by clicking on the registration button below.

Questions & Answers

Do I have to go through a Messiah Lifeways orientation?

Yes. Watching the orientation video is a requirement for employment at Messiah Lifeways.

You will be paid for two (2) hours on your first paycheck with Messiah Lifeways for completing this orientation.

Will I need to do any paperwork to become a Messiah Lifeways team member?

Yes. Please refer to the onboarding checklist to help prepare for next steps.

What do I need to bring with me to the onboarding event?

What if I don’t complete the onboarding process prior to October 9, 2023?

  • You will not be considered a Messiah Lifeways employee, and will need to contact Cura for further direction.
  • Components of the onboarding process are required by Department of Health and Human Services regulations, and must be completed prior to October 9, 2023.
  • Benefits outlined in this letter will no longer be applicable to you as you will not be considered a Messiah Lifeways employee as of October 9, 2023. If you are hired after October 9, 2023, our normal benefit waiting period will apply to you (refer to the Benefit Guidebook).

Will I have the same manager?

The overall management structure at Messiah Village in Dining Services will change. We will be working with the new Culinary Management Partner to determine the best structure.

Will my pay rate change?

At this time, your current pay rate will remain the same. Pay rates will be evaluated in the near future.

If I become a Messiah Lifeways team member, how will PTO work?

Messiah Lifeways will not be using your years of service for the initial PTO calculation referred to in the Benefit Guidebook. However, see the PTO breakdown below:

Full-time team members who have been employed with Cura at Messiah Village for less than 5 years will receive 48 hours of PTO preloaded into their PTO bank. To start, PTO will accrue at 4.62% per hour paid.

Full-time team members who have been employed with Cura at Messiah Village 5 years or more will receive 48 hours of PTO preloaded into their PTO bank. To start, PTO will accrue at 5.77%
per hour paid.

Part-time team members who have been employed with Cura at Messiah village will receive 24 hours of PTO preloaded into their PTO bank. PTO will accrue at 4.62% per hour paid.

What benefits does Messiah Lifeways offer?

Benefit Guidebooks are available in the Human Resources Office, or you can scan the QR code located at the bottom of the attached checklist. All full-time team members will be eligible for health, dental, and vision coverage beginning on October 9, 2023. You will have an opportunity to sign up for a benefit meeting with Benefits and Compensation Manager Laurie Black at the onboarding events. You must enroll in benefits in order to have coverage.

Will my employment with Cura be counted towards the Messiah Lifeways Years of Service Program?

Yes, your original hire date (with Messiah Lifeways or CURA) will be used for recognition in our Years of Service Program.

Does Messiah Lifeways have a way for me to save for retirement?

All team members can contribute to Messiah Lifeways’ 403(b) retirement plan. For eligible team members, we offer a 100% employer match of up to 3% of the team member’s contribution. Please refer to Pg. 19 in the Benefit Guidebook for more information.
