Jennifer Steck

Director of Community Support Services

Jennifer has been part of the At Home team since 2014. She is from Mechanicsburg and enjoys spending time with her family. Family-oriented and community-minded, through her work at Messiah Lifeways, Jennifer also loves getting to know the At Home clients.

“My favorite part of being with the At Home team is knowing that we are able to help clients stay in their homes as long as possible. We also get to meet people with all kinds of history in their lives and are given the opportunity to listen to them tell their stories.

Heidi Curry

Lead Caregiver

Heidi has been a Messiah Lifeways team member for about 20 years, serving in Activities/Enrichment, Dementia Care, Adult Day, and has been with At Home since 2013. She was born in Germany, raised in New Jersey, came to Pennsylvania to attend Messiah University, and has made her home in Dillsburg. Good memories have also been made as an At Home caregiver when she sees a client succeed, smile, and ask for her to “please come back again.” Special memories include being a “Christmas elf” to help clients prepare decorations and gifts for their loved ones, helping someone who was an artist learn to draw or paint again, taking a client shopping as they prepared for their “trip of a lifetime,” and even being a wedding companion/assistant so the client could attend a grandson’s wedding.

“As an At Home team member, I am part of a great team and feel privileged to assist people and do everything in my power to make it possible for them to stay in their home and be as independent as they can for as long as they are able—the goal of home care. I love caring for people in their homes, getting to know them and their families, and being entrusted with assisting them in a way that promotes choice, dignity, and respect. It is an honor and a blessing!”

Amanda Moyer

Lead Caregiver

Amanda has been an At Home team member since April 2015. Her favorite part about being an At Home team member is the relationships she builds with clients and their families. “There is nothing like the joy I feel when I leave a client knowing that their needs are met and they are safe,” she said. Amanda is from Steelton and currently lives in Dillsburg. She enjoys walking her dog, working out, gardening, reading, grilling, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Amanda has been married for 17 years and has a son, Gavin, and a daughter, Delaney. They also have a Golden-doodle dog named Cookie.

Her favorite memory from working with At Home is: “Watching a client’s face light up when I took him to feed fish in a pond. I will never forget the look on his face. I strive to bring smiles and contentment to clients whenever I am able.”

Nancy Makowski, R.N.

Nurse Educator

Nancy has been with At Home as a Nurse Educator for the past three years. Nancy loves being part of the At Home team and has good memories of the team winning the pumpkin decorating contest, participating in Caregiver Connection to come up with clever gifts based on past stories, and a co-worker riding a motorized wheelchair down the street at Messiah Village to a client’s home for their use. Being a part of the At Home team is both fun and rewarding for Nancy.

“I was hired by At Home to train our caregivers in specialized care, CPR, first aid and feeding a client; I love teaching and training our staff. I also love being a grandma, and my flexible schedule at work allows me to spend quality time with them. My job keeps me challenged and always learning.”

Alicia Mejia

Staff Coordinator

Alicia joined the At Home team in July 2024, and she also volunteered with food services and nursing as a young adult. Her favorite part about working with At Home is helping provide people with the love and care that they deserve. Prior to Messiah Lifeways, Alicia started a small cleaning business called “Inspired Mom Organic Cleaning,” which aligned with her passion for serving the community. In her free time, Alicia enjoys spending time with her kids, refinishing old furniture, and spending time outdoors—whether it be watching stars, having campfires, or getting muddy on ATVs.

“Everything I do, I do with passion. I am motivated by helping others, and I love getting to serve the older adult community every day with At Home.”
