Messiah Lifeways raises minimum wage to $15 an hour

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MECHANICSBURG, Pa —  Effective September 5, 2021, Messiah Lifeways is raising wages across the organization, including implementing a new $15 an hour minimum wage. Over 50% of hourly team members will be positively impacted by these increases.

“Our team members are the heart and lifeblood of this people-centered organization,” said Karl Brummer, Senior Vice President and incoming President & CEO of Messiah Lifeways. “A career in senior living is very rewarding, but at the same time, it is certainly not easy, especially over the past year and a half. We want to make sure our team members know that we value them and appreciate them, and we’re thrilled to be able to show our appreciation in this tangible way.”

Messiah Lifeways employs approximately 500 team members in a variety of roles including housekeeping, maintenance, home care assistants, certified and non-certified nurse aides, RNs, social work, and administration. The $15 an hour minimum wage increase, up from $12.20 an hour, will impact 23% of team members directly. CNAs, LPNs, and RNs are also receiving increases to their starting hourly rates next month, in addition to continued access to shift differentials and bonuses. For much of the pandemic, essential employees received hazard pay as well, and all employees received increases with the new fiscal year which began on July 1, 2021.

Messiah Lifeways invests in its team members in a variety of ways including tuition reimbursement, an on-site nurse aide certification program, and leadership training programs. Other benefits include PTO, STL, Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), 403(b), and a team member emergency fund.
