Mechanicsburg, PA — U.S. News & World Report has named Messiah Lifeways one of the nation’s Best Nursing Homes for 2014. Messiah Lifeways offers nursing care at Messiah Village, its retirement community in Mechanicsburg.
The magazine’s “Best Nursing Homes 2014” report draws on data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the federal agency that sets standards for nursing homes. U.S. News awarded the “Best Nursing Homes” designation to facilities that recently earned the agency’s highest overall rating in categories including care, safety, health inspections, staffing and more.
Messiah Lifeways is one of only a handful of mid-state nursing homes to earn the designation, and the only five-star nursing home between Harrisburg and Carlisle.
“The recognition in U.S. News validates the dedication and hard work of our entire team,” said Ken Beiler, Messiah Lifeways Nursing Home Administrator. “Our staff has maintained a consistent focus on providing the right kind of compassionate care over a long period of time.”
The full U.S. News report lists each nursing home’s performance in important clinical categories. One example: the report reveals that Messiah Lifeways residents spend about 25% more time with nurses and physical therapists each day than the average Pennsylvania nursing home resident.
The U.S. News ratings cover almost 16,000 nursing homes nationwide. According to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, about 60 percent of individuals over 65 will require some type of long-term care services during their lifetime, and over 40 percent will receive care in a nursing home for some period.
Messiah Lifeways operates a spectrum of services for 55+ adults in South Central Pennsylvania, including resident communities, enrichment opportunities and community support services.
