MECHANICSBURG, Pa — Despite ongoing, industry-wide workforce pressures resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, Messiah Lifeways® is committed to thinking creatively about how it can ensure that team member shortages do not impact the level of high-quality care, service, and satisfaction it provides community members. Currently, they’re exploring the possibilities that exist in robotic resources employed across campus.
A robotic vacuum and a robotic lawnmower—affectionately called Roving Rosie and Mr. Mow it All—have joined the Messiah Village team this summer to support community upkeep. Roving Rosie is a Makita Robo Pro, which has the battery power to clean approximately 5,380 square feet of hard flooring or up to 200 minutes of continuous operation, and Mr. Mow it All is a Husqvarna Automower that can mow up to 145 minutes or 1,430 square feet per hour.
“These two innovative additions to Messiah Lifeways® are not only assisting team members in keeping the campus clean and beautiful, but they also closely align with the three main focuses of our strategic plan: build, improve, and grow,” said Senior Director of Campus Services Chris Weidenhammer. “We’re in the trial stages now, safely testing the vacuum and mower in small areas of campus and weighing feedback from the community on how these might be utilized best. But overall, we’re excited about the potential to innovatively improve campus and better support our community of employees and residents.”
