Messiah Lifeways At Home Partners with Cheryl Kay Foundation

Messiah Lifeways At Home (MLAH) is writing a new chapter in its 31-year history by partnering with the Cheryl Kay Foundation (CKF) a Mechanicsburg-based family organization dedicated to affordable, dignified, and accessible home care services. As one of the first home care agencies in the region to partner with CKF, Messiah Lifeways At Home will be able to remove financial barriers and serve more older adults in need of age-in-place services. As an approved agency partner, MLAH can offer one-time grants of $1,000 per client. “This partnership comes at an opportune time as more families are looking for partners in caring for aging loved ones,” states Karl Brummer, Vice President of Human Resources, Community Services & Enrichment. “Our mission aligns so well with CKF as we both seek to lessen the financial burden of obtaining quality home care.  We are incredibly thankful for the generosity of this fine organization.”

Messiah Lifeways At Home has been serving Cumberland, Northern York, Perry, and Dauphin County clients since 1984. Their skilled team of in-home caregivers are available around the clock, including holidays, to provide a broad range of non-medical caregiving, housekeeping, and daily support services. “Because home care services are not generally covered by insurance, cost can be a barrier,” according to Megan Stedjan, Director of Community Support Services for Messiah Lifeways. “A grant of $1,000 per person will go a long way in serving current and future clients as Pennsylvania continues to trend as one of our nation’s ‘grayest’ states. The need is there.”

CKF eligibility requirements include: individuals, 79 years of age or older, who live alone or with a spouse, and whose monthly income is between $2,022 and a maximum of $3,635. The CKF grants are also intended to support women undergoing breast cancer treatment who demonstrate financial need. CKF was founded in 2013 by the family of Cheryl Kay Stawovy, who passed away after battling breast cancer. The foundation seeks to honor Cheryl’s life and model the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor.
