Messiah Lifeways’ Carlisle Adult Day Center recently received a generous grant from the GB Stuart Charitable Foundation totaling $10,500. The gift was made to facilitate a number of physical improvements and upgrades to support the center’s mission of providing a nurturing and uplifting environment for older adults who are unable to safely stay home during the day. The Messiah Lifeways Adult Day program brings decades of experience to serve families and caregivers in two locations – the Mechanicsburg center is located on the campus of Messiah Lifeways at Messiah Village, while the Carlisle program is located onsite at the Carlisle Brethren in Christ Church on Walnut Bottom Road. Keith Falconer, executive director of the foundation, commented on the professionalism and kindness of the Adult Day staff and noted that “our community is very fortunate to have this resource dedicated to helping people and families who just need a little help along the way.” Megan Stedjan, Messiah Lifeways Director of Community Support Services, expressed deep gratitude for this gift. “We understand the challenges that caregivers face when a loved one requires additional support during the work week. Our team of nurses, therapeutic professionals, and activity programmers are committed to offering the very best experience through music, art, excursions, visits, gardening, fellowship, and more. A gift like this blesses our clients and our families as we are able to enhance our offerings and be more creative in our work.” Funds from this grant distribution have been used for a range of purchases including 2 iPads, 4 gliding rocking chairs, noise cancelling headphones, a new propane grill, 2 raised planting beds with wheels for easy gardening and much more. Clients will also enjoy some new leisure pursuits with a set of foam horseshoes, a picnic-style lawn toss game and a SuperPutt golfing game.
