We have received reports of warmer temperatures in resident rooms in the Laurel neighborhoods during these recent warmer days. It’s unfortunately too early in the spring season to switch the HVAC system to the cooling mode.
To ensure comfortable temperatures, the boilers were shut off on 3/17 to avoid additional heating in the neighborhoods. Maintenance team members will continue to monitor temperatures daily and if warranted, the heat will be turned back on to maintain comfortable temperatures.
The Department of Human Services, which is the regulatory body of Enhanced Living, indicates that fans should be offered when temperatures exceed 80 degrees, and we have fans readily available. We encourage residents to ask for fans for their rooms if the temperatures are warm or blankets if they’re cold as we manage through the change of seasons. For residents who are unable to communicate their needs, team members have been educated to monitor their environment and provide support as needed.
In the meantime, we are currently committed to a long-term heating and cooling solution and are working with HVAC vendors and an engineer to implement a permanent HVAC replacement for the Laurel neighborhoods in early summer. We anticipate securing a temporary solution in the next two months while we wait for equipment to arrive for the long-term solution. We will continue to communicate progress on the project as updates are available.
We appreciate your patience as we navigate HVAC solutions.

Who should I contact with questions?
AccuShield Kiosk Sign-In:
We have received numerous questions regarding why visitors must enter Nursing and EL neighborhoods through the main entrance door in Village Center. This visitor policy is in place to ensure safety, as we’re able to keep track of visitors in the building, as all visitors are expected to sign in and wear a name tag. This is not a COVID-19 requirement, but a requirement that will remain in place regardless of outbreak status. Additionally, any neighborhood in Nursing or EL that is in a COVID-19 or flu outbreak will continue to be posted on a sign at the main entrance to Village Center as well as on the AccuShield kiosk, the Blog, and MVTV so that you can plan your visit accordingly.
**Do Not Visit if you are having any of the following symptoms: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea. We appreciate your continued efforts to help protect our community. If you have COVID-19 questions, please reach out to our Infection Preventionist, Gina Johnson, at 717-591-7206.
