Music Therapy: The Cornerstone of Messiah Lifeways’ Memory Care

“At a movie you can feel it touching your heart

And on every day of the summertime

You’ll hear children chasing ice cream carts

They’ll play it on your wedding day

There must be ’bout a million ways

To add some music to your day

Music, when you’re alone

Is like a companion

For your lonely soul” –  The Beach Boys

In moments of deep despair, a meaningful song can comfort, uplift, and even inspire us. At Messiah Lifeways, we believe that music can play a powerful role in the aging journey. Whether it is an unexpected diagnosis, complications from a stroke, or just the normal process of time, when dealing with memory care issues we use music to transform lives.

Reduced muscle tension, improved self-esteem, decreased anxiety, and memory recall are just some of the positive outcomes we have seen by utilizing licensed music therapists, using individualized care plans for our residents.

Our commitment to every older adult in our care is to help them embrace their life – including the changes and challenges that come with each stage – and live it to its fullest. Music therapy is part of a robust memory care program. We believe in music therapy as an essential part of giving residents hope and a renewed sense of meaning.

Will you consider helping more older adults thrive through the ministry of Messiah Lifeways? Your support is necessary to provide continued access to Music Therapy, and to expand that access to include more residents and clients in need of its therapeutic benefits as part of an extensive memory-care program.
